Sharing the News… with a Few

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Well, Friday has rolled around and it’s time to tell Jeff’s parents. In the past few days, I ended up telling my brothers since my sister already knew and my older brother is in med school and just finished an OB/GYN rotation or whatever it’s called. I thought he might have some good advice. I also went to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy. She confirmed that I am definitely pregnant and that it’s very early. She would guess 4-6 weeks. After another unsuccessful brainstorming of a creative way to tell Jeff’s parents, he decides to lay it on them at lunch right after we get them from the Seatac airport. Jeff says something like “Jen has some news. We’re having a baby!” I think it was both exciting and shocking for the Bigham’s. Jeff said it so casually that it was hilarious! I said, “yep, I’m pregnant” and we all finished lunch feeling very happy!

I’m Pregnant! For Sure!

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Well, I took the “real” drugstore pregnancy test this morning, Monday June 8th and it showed a definite double blue line meaning I’m pregnant! YAY! YAY! YAY! Of course I couldn’t sleep well, so I got up many times during the night and decided that 4:30am qualified as first of the morning urine. I peed on the stick and within seconds I had my answer. The definite, double blue lines. I took Jeff’s iPhone and took a picture of it and left the picture on the screen and placed it by his computer. Then I went back into bed as quietly as possible. Jeff was awake afterall and asked “what did it say?” I told him, “I’m pregnant, yay!” He was really excited, I was ecstatic, we hugged, and both fell right back to sleep. When we woke up, I asked him how I could possibly keep this secret from my parents until Jeff’s parents arrived. He said, “you can’t”. I called my sister and told her the good news. She was excited. Then I asked Jeff about creative ways to tell our parents. We came up with nothing. The next thing we knew, my parents had arrived. I ended up blurting it out in a stupid way. We were sitting watching tv and I said, “guess who else is pregnant” when we were busying gossiping about the latest and greatest news from my hometown area. My mom said, “who?” and I said “me!” Mom and dad were excited! Now how am I going to wait until Friday for Jeff’s parents to arrive so I can tell them in person?

I’m Pregnant!

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Sunday, June 7th has arrived! I grabbed my normal pee cup in the middle of the afternoon (although I’d read that you should test first morning urine, I couldn’t wait because my parents were arriving in town either Sunday night or Monday morning and I needed to know the results ASAP! I used my little cheap Amazon pregnancy strip, and left the bathroom. About a minute later, I returned and saw a slight pink line! WHOA! I yelled for Jeff. He agreed there was definitely a line, but he wasn’t sure if it was a false positive. I told him it can’t be false positive. It makes the line after picking up the pregnancy hormone hcg in my urine and that can only happen if I’m pregnant! I skipped around the apartment singing “Let your Love Flow” ‘There’s a reason for the sunshine’s sky. There’s a reason why I’m feeling so high. Must be the season when that love light shines all around us.’ Jeff was excited too, laughing, but telling me to calm down. He said we should go to the store to get “a real pregnancy test” that I could take first thing in the morning. Meanwhile, I found out that my parents weren’t going to arrive until the next day anyway, so it was prefect timing.
