All time low?

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I think I just hit an all-time low. I bought a pair of ELASTIC WAIST SHORTS today! I was at the mall, and happened upon a Motherhood Maternity store. I’ve been really hot since we got to Boston and I’ve been surviving by wearing cheerleading shorts since I don’t have any shorts that fit right now. In the store, this pair of shorts were calling out my name. They looked pretty cute in general, then I saw the elastic waist. I carried them around for awhile, and when I didn’t find anything else, I decided to try them on. Wow, they were comfortable! Sure, I have to wear really long shirts to make sure no one ever sees the elastic top, but I thought they were worth the price so I bought them! On the walk home I kept asking myself, “did you really just buy ELASTIC WAIST SHORTS?” Yes I did! I’ve been wearing them all afternoon and they feel great! I also found out that Old Navy has a maternity section. I found a skirt there that is really comfy!

Other news from my day… I didn’t take a nap at all. Yay! I even walked 4 miles (to the mall and back) and didn’t feel exhausted when I got home. I got some fun and cheerful emails from friends which put me in a good mood, I went out to run and my watch broke so I decided I wasn’t going to run afterall, and I accidently poured half a bottle of dressing on my bowl of salad (it was a vinaigrette, and I wasn’t exactly paying attention to what I was doing) . Speaking of salad, I’m hungry for it again. I haven’t wanted salad since the very first weeks of my pregnancy. We’ll see how long this lasts.

It’s not fat!

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I woke up this morning and looked at myself in the mirror, somewhat disgusted. Why do I just look fat and everyone on the message boards who are due in February have cute little obvious looking baby bumps? Ugh! I already hadn’t slept well because of the aching in my stomach which feels like my uterus is stretching and now I look bloated. I went to my computer, eager to check my email and Twitter and think about something else (or get tired enough to go back to sleep). The first email I see is from the What to Expect team, a newsletter I signed up for that gives me daily updates on what the baby is doing, what I’m going through, etc. The subject line read, “It’s Not Fat”. The email went on to say that right now, I might be feeling fat instead of pregnant, but I should banish the world from my vocabulary because it just isn’t true! It continued to say all sorts of encouraging words. How did they plan the email so perfectly? Even Jeff was a little surprised when I told him how I was feeling and then what the email said. Ok, I’m feeling better. Here are the 15 weeks, 6 day pictures!

I have some energy!

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Today I felt great for the first time since I’ve been pregnant. I’m 15 weeks, 3 days today. I was out and about all day, although I really had nothing important to do, just because I felt so good! Usually, I try to stay near my home because I usually need to rest or eat every hour. Not today! I was moving around like I did pre-pregnancy… until… 4pm. All of a sudden, I got really tired and slept HARD for at least an hour. I just passed out on the couch. I still consider the day a victory. Yay! Energy is back!

Slight stomach pain

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I started feeling slight stomach pain at about 14 weeks, 5 days. It was nothing to really complain about, but it felt sort of tight, like a pulling or stretching feeling in my lower stomach. I feel like I can feel my uterus growing! That’s what it feels like. I also am extremely exhausted. While I am running 20-30 minutes, 5-6 days a week, and walk at least 3-4 miles a day, the rest of my day is pretty much spent laying on the couch, watching tv, and napping. I keep telling myself it’s good to relax sometimes. Finally, I developed dark brown spots on my stomach. They aren’t moles. They are just a few shades darker than my skin color, flat against the skin, and range from the size of a pencil eraser to double and half that size. Really strange. This all started around 11 weeks, and now that I’m 15 weeks, I developed 4 more! All on my stomach, all just patches of darker skin, probably 11 in all. I showed them to my doctor and she said it’s hard to say without seeing what I looked like before, but they don’t look like broken capillaries which is something they look for in pregnant women. So, I guess I’m just a mystery. I even wrote in to a discussion Board on What to Expect and no one else has experienced this, though a few people said it’s probably normal. Ok, thanks a lot! :)

Tummy popped out slightly today! Sure, strangers don’t know I’m pregnant, but I feel more pregnant now! I’ve added a bonus picture with my shorts pulled below the belly so you can see the little bump that I see.

Gaining weight, but don’t look pregnant yet… Notice that my acne is finally starting to clear! Yay! Also note, all pictures are taken first thing in the morning after I wake up. I could take the pictures at the end of the day, but you would see more bloating than baby and it’s not fair to pass off bloating as baby belly!
